We met at a lifeguarding class. Being two of the few students who could actually swim efficiently, we bonded on the side of the pool, talking smack about the other students as they slowly made it through the 500-meter swim. Our first kiss was the stuff of legends and involved a deserted island, bioluminescence in the ocean, and a star-filled sky. Before we knew it, we were becoming partners for life on a stormy morning in the Outer Banks of NC. We were married by the time we were 21 and 23. In March of 2018, we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. #lifers

We became wedding photographers because we loved each other. Four months after our wedding day, we set off on a kayak adventure, paddling from Maine to Key West. This took us over a year and a half, 2500 miles, through some of the worst and best days of our lives so far and cemented our love for one another. On that trip, we realized that we wanted to be together all the time, not trading our numbered days for a number on a paycheck. This business is how we made that happen in our love story.

We share our lovely little apartment with our sweet little dog, Hattie. Most of our time is spent snuggling her, hustlin' in our home office, watching YouTube, surfing, and dreaming about travels and fresh ideas.

Style and Philosophy

Gutsy + Real + Honest + Intuitive + Quirky

We are dependant on our couples to be themselves; real, confident, imperfect, brave and quirky too. Our main inspirations are light, emotion and landscape. We dig bold light, dark shadows, buttery golden sun, and high contrast. Drawn to the emotions of the day we focus on the story being told, both the public displays as well as the private moments and we stay alongside you through the whole day in order to get that. We believe in the importance of the location you chose for your wedding and we incorporate that into the story as much as we can. While we do step in to help direct you during your portraits, we use a photo-journalistic technique during the rest of the day as it unfolds.

Our number one goal on a wedding day is to show truth. We want the vulnerable honest imperfect and gritty real-life stuff. Ugly crying from how stinking happy you are to be married. We like messy hair and un-fluffed wedding dresses with dirt on the bottom, undone ties, and tipsy wedding guests. Bring it.

We have our suitcases halfway packed at all times, just in case. Our passports are up to date and have stamps from Ireland, Iceland, Norway, the UK, Sweden and the Netherlands with space for more. Just don't ask to see the passport photos. Yikes.

Since 2010 we have photographed couples in Iceland and all over the U.S. Including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska and are 100% down for adding to that list. Let us know where you want us to go!
