Vibe you are going for: A rustic-ly elegant family gathering! We want everyone at the wedding to feel like family!
Let’s hear your love story! We met on eHarmony – the stuff of fairy tales. Both of us dragged our feet before consenting to online dating and it ended up being that thing that led us to one another! Both of us are Christians, and wanted to meet someone who shared our faith. Even though it’s not rom-com material, we believe that meeting one another, on eHarmony, was part of God’s plan for our lives, and we are so grateful for it.
What’s your favorite thing to do on any given Saturday together? A Saturday would involve waking up naturally and relaxing hang-out time with each other, followed by some kind of adventure! The adventure could be going for a hike or going to Target – we make it an adventure! We would follow that up by going out to dinner, or maybe having dinner on the couch with a movie marathon and ice cream!
What is one trait that you love about in your fiancé?
Brittany – Jim is such a caring and selfless person. He makes me feel so cared for and treats me better than I could ever imagine. When we talk, make plans, or laugh over something ridiculous, it feels like we were made for one another. He makes me so happy.
Jim – Brittany has a tender heart and a passion for loving people. Her love for others is a true reflection of God’s love and I thank Him every day for her. I learn to be a better person every moment I’m with her.
How did you/he pop the question? It was October, and we went to a fall festival for church. Afterward, we decided to grab lunch and take it to a park that we like. Britt had suggested that we make a “bucket†list together. It was a beautiful fall day, sunny and breezy. As we started to work on our bucket list, Jim said he had something else to add. He got down on one knee, took out the ring, and proposed!
Who was the first person you told about your engagement? We both called our parents! Brittany ended up getting her parents & her two brothers in the same room when she called. Jim’s parents had known that that day was the big day, and they had been praying & waiting for the news!
How did you decide where you wanted to get married? This was mostly Brittany’s decision: my family and I have always vacationed in Maine, and I really love it there. I wanted somewhere that would be naturally beautiful. We’ll be getting married on top of a mountain, with amazing views of the
fall leaves and mountains. Our guests will even ride a chairlift or gondola up to the site of the ceremony & reception.
What has been your favorite part of wedding planning?
Brittany – My favorite parts have been any time we get together to do a planning activity: visiting Sunday River for the first time, going to the food tasting & cupcake tasting with Jim & my parents, getting my dress with my mom & my two friends. It’s so fun and celebratory to be together, planning for the big day!
Jim – My favorite part has been getting to see how happy Brittany gets planning it! Nothing makes me happier than seeing how excited Brittany is getting ready for beginning of our lives together. All of the time and planning spent preparing has been worth it all to see one of Brittany’s big smiles.
What do you look forward to the most about being married? Being on an adventure together, one that will last for the rest of our lives.
