Let’s hear your love story!Â
We met about 9 years ago at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. We lived across the hall from one another our Sophomore year and have been inseparable ever since!
What’s your favorite thing to do on any given Saturday together?Â
Sleep in (well, Mike sleeps in and Sara waits until 8:30AM to wake him up), have dinner at a new restaurant or stroll down Newbury Street on a warm summer night for some Pinkberry.
What is one trait that you love about in your fiancé?
Sara – His kindness, sense of humor and use of puns!
Mike – Her laugh and positive outlook on life!
Tell us your engagement story.Â
We were on our annual ski trip over New Years 2015 and had decided to go to Sugarbush in VT. We checked in to this cute bed and breakfast on a Thursday. The innkeeper was showing us around the inn and noted that they don’t lock their doors so if we had anything valuable, we could put it in a safe. Sara nudged Mike and jokingly said, “Do you have anything valuable and shiny?!” We had planned on not skiing on our last day, a Sunday, and Sara made plans for them to go take a tour of the Ben & Jerry’s factory, the Cabot cheese factory and a brewery. After breakfast on Sunday morning, Mike told Sara that before they did any of the planned activities, he wanted to take her somewhere. Sara asked Mike where, when, how, why but Mike was calm, cool and collected and didn’t give in to any of Sara’s questions. They hopped in the car and Mike drove about 15 minutes down the main highway. When they arrived, Mike led Sara down a snowy path and over a bridge to this iced over (but beautiful) waterfall. When they were right in front of the waterfall, Mike told Sara to look up and when Sara finally looked back down again, Mike was on one knee. Sara of course exclaimed yes and Mike pulled out his camera, a bottle of champagne and 3 plastic champagne flutes (in case one broke of course!) They celebrated and then went straight back to Boston where they continued celebrations with family and friends. It was the most perfect day!
How did you decide where you wanted to get married?
Every summer, we spend a long weekend in Kennebunkport. It was a no-brainer that when we were thinking about where we wanted to get married, Kennebunkport was at the top of the list. We have such great memories of our times there and we always pictured ourselves getting married in the great state of Maine.
What has been your favorite part of wedding planning?
Mike – Picking out my suit!
Sara – There have been many favorites but I’d say the best part is that Mike and I get to spend more time with our families, especially my mom, who are helping in the planning!
What do you look forward to the most about being married?
Being able to call each other husband and wife! Really nothing else will change too much!
