Cape Elizabeth, Maine Engagement: Greer and Richie

I know its summer, but let’s take it back to a bone-chilling 15-degree day in February ok? Come meet some of the bravest clients we have had yet! These two live in Texas and were in town for some wedding planning. We had just this one day to make their engagement session happen and we were blessed with some fresh snow to go along with it. First, we headed to the lovely Ft Williams State Park because who doesn’t love the iconic Portland Headlight? Next, we headed over to the private property where their wedding will happen (soon!). We loved having access to a rocky part of the coastline we had not seen yet and were in awe all over again at just how lovely Maine really is. #nevergoingtogetold These two were so easy going and super snuggly and never ever complained about the temperature. How golden is that?

Detroit Museum Wedding: Becky and Kevin

Dan and Becky went to school together and she’s kept up with us ever since we started our business in 2010. When she and Kevin got engaged, she wrote us and asked us to be a part of her wedding day. We were super excited to say the least. We love to photograph friends weddings PLUS this one was a destination wedding so we were all in.

The couple got ready at a hotel outside of Detroit and then we all headed to the historic Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, where the first Model T was conceived and developed by Henry Ford himself. Cool right? The setting was so beautiful in our photographer eyes: gorgeous natural light pouring in the huge windows, brick, steel, chipping paint. We also took them to a mural in the city just a couple blocks away. It was so incredible and colorful and a dream to photograph. We were in heaven.

The ceremony took place surrounded by historic Ford cars and family and friends. With a dozen children in her family alone, there were A LOT of family members in attendance. Afterwards, we went outside for a few more portraits and then it was time for the party. They served some out of control BBQ and Coca cola and sweet Tea for dinner along with a dessert table that I salivated after as I edited the photos weeks later. After dinner, Becky’s dad performed a song he had written for her which was beyond precious. Dancing began and it was a laid back, sweet, snuggly evening. Since it was the last wedding of the season and we were feeling spunky, we even hit up the after party at the hotel later that night. All in all…. an incredible exclamation point to end our 2016 season!

Juneau Alaska Portrait Session: Josie and BJ

While in Juneau, you KNOW we wanted to photograph our friends Josie and BJ. The light in Juneau was easy-peasy however there was not a lot of it. Our days were dictated by the sunlight and how much time we had left before it was dark again. If we ever wanted to do anything in the daylight, we had to hustle to get up and get going in time. With this session, we spend the first 20 minutes with their kiddos at the glacier, then rushed to a friends house to hand of the little ones, then rushed across the bridge to this location to have only 30 min to bang out some photos with these two. When I say we chased the light, I am most definitely being serious.

Also… Josie… that red coat was everything in these photos. Fashion win.

Logan and Jay’s Intimate Vermont Wedding

A dozen people, a few short hours, and a wedding that we will never ever forget… this was Logan and Jay’s wedding.

It snowed all day, beautiful dreamland snow, the kind of snow that you picture when you think of romantic white fluffy Vermont snow. We met them in a lodge where there closest family were all together preparing to witness Logan and Jay exchange vows. They had flown in from places as far away as California and Florida. Their first look took place in the falling snow… I don’t know how to properly convey that scene other than to share the images. It was complete and total first look perfection. The had their ceremony in the snow on the back porch of the cabin. It was so casual but yet so serious… one of those ceremonies where you can feel the sacred vows. After the kiss, it was on to a sleigh ride in the snow followed by dinner, cooked by the chef right there in the cabin. What could really be better?

I hope that the images convey just how unforgettable this small wedding really was. Pinch me ok?

Kathleen and Jacob’s Hanover Inn at Darthmouth College Wedding on New Year’s Eve!

Two days before Kathleen and Jacob‘s wedding, it snowed over 6 inches. We were elated since we had been talking about how perfect that would be since the day we signed on for the wedding. The whole drive up, we marveled at the softbox sky, and the manageable temperatures. It was as perfect a winter day as you could order up. When we arrived it was game on until we left that evening. The girls were so excited they were bubbling over the entire pre-ceremony time. When I walked in the room they were laughing and all talking at the same time, and that never stopped. Not only was standing in the window for photos their crazy idea, but they didn’t even flinch when I asked them to stand in the snow BAREFOOT for a few photos. That is dedication… the kind of bridesmaids that every bride wants. Right before the ceremony, I asked Jacob what kind of kiss he was planning on giving Kathleen for their first kiss as a married couple. He smiled and told me he hadn’t even thought about that yet! Well he delivered when he planted a huge on one on her after he was blessed to do so. At the reception, the entire bridal party surprised them with a song and the father daughter dance was adorable, set to Bobby Darin’s “You must have been a beautiful baby.” Unforgettable. The dance party was epic, the DJ confiding in me that these people didn’t know what was about to hit them once he got into it. He planned all super fast songs for the end and everyone was sweating from the amazingness of the reception dance party. What a GREAT way to spend New Years eve don’t you think?
