Stowe Vermont Wedding: Colleen and Kirsten

Kirsten and Colleen’s wedding was bursting at the seams with smiles, laughs, and love. Really you guys. Other than a handful of moments that moved everyone to tears (and rightfully so), all we saw all day was HUGE smiles and belly laughs. What more can you ask for on a wedding day?

The couple decided to have their wedding at the Trapp Family Lodge, in Stowe Vermont. Colleen’s family has been vacationing there for decades so there really was no other place they could imagine saying their wedding vows. We were so excited ourselves since this is one of those venues that we have wanted to photograph in since we were first starting out as wedding photographers. High Fives all around! It did not disappoint.

Both women walked down the aisle with their fathers, who also jumped up at the end of the ceremony to help them both down from the ceremony platform in tandem. So cute. Next we all headed over to the tent for dinner and dancing and a huge helping of more smiles and laughs and of course… as Colleen would say… love love love!

William Allen Farm Wedding Maine: Ali and Brady

Ali and Brady live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands however they flow all the way back across the pond to have their wedding here in the great state of Maine. A high compliment to our home if I’ve ever seen it. Brady got ready in Portland, while Ali prepared for the day at the William Allen Farm , only having to walk a few short steps to get to the ceremony. When she came out in her gorgeous gown, with a dropped back detail, it’s safe to say everyone was wow-ed. This of course includes Mr. Brady himself, saying that it was “perfect” at their adorable and smile-filled first look.

After a ceremony, graced by ducklings, they headed up to the barn for a casual dinner and dances. We loved seeing how much fun everyone was having in the barn. It felt like a very laid-back casual yet fancy event, no real rules, just right.

Pemaquid Maine Engagement Session: Rob and Jess

Rob and Jess live in the Boston area but this summer Rob was studying up here in Maine. Since its such a special time in their lives, before they say I do in Arizona, they wanted to capture some Maine-y goodness. Now that we can get behind! We met them at the home he’s been staying in while he studies and spent some time in the lupines, on the rocky shore, and even a little misadventure in a rowboat. It was one of those beautiful Maine evenings that always reminds us of why we chose to live here in such a beautiful state. Also…. they are both redheaded!!! Dan felt an immediate kinship with these two for obvious reasons. #gingers

#bdtravlin: Iceland’s Westjords

In June, Dan and I had the huge honor of photographing an intimate wedding in Reykjavik, Iceland. Of course we took the opportunity to spend a few extra days there after the wedding and headed up to the Westfjords, that we have been pining after for ages. We have seen the westfjords in the neverending amazing work of Chris Burkard and even a wedding shot by the incredible Ben and Erin Chrisman. Dan’s obsessed with Puffins, and I love to be in far away, hard to get to, alone places so…. it was time! We packed up our camping gear into a teensy tiny “car” and headed out on a long long road trip.

We hit gravel roads almost immediately, curving up over and around the peninsulas along the sea. I always find it fascinating how I can drive through the most incredible landscapes for hours on end, so much so that they become commonplace. Then I have this “back to reality” moment and see it all with fresh eyes and it takes my breath away again and again. Nothing like a knifes edge road to snap you back either. Road trips are my favorite thing to do, always wanting to keep driving and see more and more till we hit the end of the road. On this trip we hit a few of those: the westernmost point in Europe at the the Látrabjarg bird cliffs, and at Krossneslaug in Nordurfjordur. I have to say, that this trip to Iceland will always be one of those trips that I’ll hold dear for the rest of my life because I was just so happy to be in those places in those moments… so alive and full and present. Enjoy a little taste of what we saw and make sure to check out Dan’s vlog of the trip at the bottom of this post! Boom!

Reykjavík Backyard Wedding: Liz and Greg

Liz and Greg met working at Flatbread Pizza, which moved them all around, including Maui Hawaii and their home now in Boston. We met Liz when Dan hired her to work for Charles River Canoe and Kayak as as a stand-up paddleboard instructor, back when we worked there all together. Fast forward to last year, when Liz and Greg started planning a big Maine wedding and subsequently decided they wanted something small. Liz’s mother mom’s best friend from college, Ingrid, lives in Iceland. So this is how we all ended up in a beautiful backyard in Reykjavík, witnessing these two become husband and wife.

Greg is a sensitive soul and adores Liz. There were numerous times throughout the day that I was melting over how he looked at her. The two shared so many sweet secret glances with one another, surrounded by all the hustle and bustle of the day. It was proof of their singular focus, one another. What could be more important on a wedding day?

After the ceremony, which was partially delivered in Icelandic, we shared a few appetizers and toasted to the couple. Next we headed into the city center for some portraits, where the color and street art had all our hearts a flutter. We could have photographed these two for HOURS in the city but they had a dinner to get to, in the home of an icelandic opera singer and his partner. Of course we all sang a song together before the homemade meal. What an incredible day to be a part of and a wonderful way to be married!
