Double Shot Engagements 2019

Just like our 2019 weddings, we got to review our 2019 engagements and what a fun one it was. Lots and lots of goodies this past year. Some more highlights include: MORE rowboats, photographing in the fort on Peaks Island and a parking garage, both of which I have always wanted to photograph in, two OBX sessions, tumbleweeds, broken toes, and stretching our creative muscles.

There is something special about engagement sessions because we all have a more free feeling: less time pressure, less people to navigate, less worry about hair and clothes. Its just a good natural feeling. More please!

Acadia Engagement Session: Hillary and Kevin

Welcome to “Hillary and Kevin Week” around here! We spent three glorious days with these two on the week of their wedding and this week we will share their engagement session, rehearsal dinner, and wedding all this week! Boom!

If you have been around here for a while, you already know just how much we adore Acadia so when Hillary and Kevin asked us on a planning phone call if we would be willing to pop up to Acadia for an engagement session last minute, we were ALL about it. It was one of those magic Acadia days where the temperature reminds you just how lucky you are to be in Maine on that day in that place at that moment. They had no plan for locations so we just bebopped all around to places Dan and I have wanted to photograph! Dream right?

Spending this time with them got us so so stoked for their wedding day obviously.

Rehearsal Dinner + Wedding

Peaks Island Engagement Session: Cassandra and Derek

One of the highest honors you can receive as a wedding photographer is to be asked to photograph other photographers. Cassandra is a wedding photographer here in Maine as well and we were over the moon when they asked us to be the photographers for their wedding.

Of course, we wanted to do an engagement session with them, and they chose to have the session at one of their favorite getaways, Peaks Island. We had to reschedule the session more than once with the weather and other things so when we finally all got together we were all stoked! I have always wanted to photograph at this fort with a couple and they were 100% down. Of course.

As I write this, we have since photographed their wedding too and I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW IT OFF! Coming soon 😉

Acadia Engagement Session: Peter and Peyton

Sometimes everything comes together.

Dan and I photographed Jo and Carl’s wedding the day before Peter and Peyton’s engagement session and we were in Acadia for the second day of beautiful National Park photographing. Woot Woot! How lucky are we though… honestly?

When Peter and Peyton got out of the car I was already stoked seeing how CUTE they styled themselves for the session. That red dress and those teal pants though… yes yes yes! We met them at a new favorite Acadia Beach that Jo and Carl introduced us to. The weather was moody and we were feeling those Maine vibes. The bummer though was that we knew that Peyton really really really wanted sun and Maine was not delivering. After the beach, we headed to up the top of Cadillac for the second half of the session. As we drove the sun came out in perfect time and we had ourselves one of the most gorgeous sunsets we have ever witnessed to photograph them in. We were all over the moon and it was SO SO much fun!

Boise Idaho Engagement Session

This session was a little different for us. We actually did two sessions, each for an hour. We wanted nice light and also two locations which were really far apart. Thankfully we had the time and energy to make that happen. This couple is actually friends of ours and they flew us out to Idaho for their wedding so we were able to talk them into two sessions 😉 How selfish are we?

It was really fun to photograph in a totally different environment than we typically work in. No ocean for miles and miles… While we missed our salty muse, I have to say that it was really cool to be up in the mountains with vistas for DAYS!
