Brittany and Jim’s Sunday River Resort Maine Wedding

“Sweet.” That’s the word that always came to mind when I thought about Brittany and Jim… and their wedding lived up to that. It was so stinkin’ sweet. We love the way these two love one another and their wedding day simple showcased that. Isn’t that what a wedding is supposed to do? Another part of the day that we loved seeing was the sweet relationship between Brittany and her Dad. It swear it made me cry while I was editing. Again… super sweet.

This Saturday was notable in the Maine Wedding Photography world because the weather was tough all across the state. It was not only rainy, but it was windy. Brittany and Jim held their wedding at the top of the mountain at Sunday River so we spent most of the day inside a cloud! It was uncommon but I have to say, it looked pretty cool! The best part was how brave the two of them were to go outside with us and take photos IN the cloud. I loved it. They even had their sparkler exit, in spite of the rain! See guys, you can still have a rad wedding in the rain. It’s all about attitude.

Kristen and Rhett’s Maine Camp Wedding

It had been over a year since we had seen these two at their Ogunquit Maine engagement session. They live in Colorado and planned this wedding as a destination for family, friends, and honored guests. It was a vintage camp theme, held at not one, but two camps: Camp Eastwood and Camp Manitou. In my humble opinion, they nailed the theme, complete with lanterns instead of bouquets and groomsmen pocket watches! The girls got ready in the camp dance studio and the guys in a cabin nearby. When they had their first look in the soccer field, Rhett was tearing up even before he was his beautiful bride. It was so sweet to witness.

For the ceremony, the guys rode a boat across the lake to the other camp, arriving to the “Flight of the Valkyries,” a very nice touch. Kristen walked down the aisle to the same song I did in my wedding, “Come thou Fount of Every Blessing,” so I was crying along with everyone else. Sounds hard to top eh? Well they topped it when they walked back down the aisle to a shower of Marshmallows (!) in place of flower petals. I told you they nailed the camp theme! The reception was held in the dining hall of the camp, with BBQ catered and an ice cream truck serving up homemade ice cream instead of the traditional cake. One of my personal favorite part of the evening was when a group of family and friends gathered around the couple (who met in Chorus by the way), and sang a song to them. It was an adorable wedding that we loved being a part of!

Brittany and Jim’s Bridgton Maine Engagement Session

On the way up to Bridgton, Dan asked me to tell him a little bit about these two since he wasn’t able to be there for the original consultation. All I could tell him other than the details and logistics of their upcoming wedding day was that Brittany (who I talked on the phone with) was ridiculously kind and sounded like a precious person. In person, she is exactly that, but even more. Her tiny frame just melted into her fiance Jim, who was always up for a cuddle or hug. It was such a casual engagement session with the two of them. They made US comfortable. Brittany and Jim actually hired us before they were officially engaged. They saw no reason to hold off the wedding plans that they knew were inevitable. Although this is rare, I can understand it and completely get knowing you’re definitely getting married before the ring. I am happy to announce that they are indeed engaged and we got to take some super fun images of them at her family’s “upta camp,” (Mainer’s will get this). When we saw how calm the lake was, Dan could not contain his excitement. The reflection was breathtaking. I definitely took a few landscapes for my own personal photo collection. We get to visit so many awesome places!

So snuggle up with a cuppa tea and enjoy this very Maine engagement session with Brittany and Jim. #loves

Sara and Brian’s Apple Orchard Maine Engagement

It was apple picking season!!! These two met us at Pine View Orchard; a teeny tiny, but immaculately kept, apple orchard. I swear there wasn’t a speck of non-cuteness anywhere to be found. It was actually shocking. From the moment we got out of the car and gave them hugs, it was overwhelmingly obvious how much Brian loves his Sara. Seriously. Head.Over.Heels. I LOVE to see that and it happened all session. They played and laughed and simply let loose pretty much the entire time. I felt like we had some window into a date they were on. What could be better than that for an engagement session? I mean really.

We spent about an hour in the apple orchard, just walking around and goofing off with apples. I have no idea where all the crazy apple ideas were coming from but Dan and I were out of control with the crazy plans. “Do this… do that… and then this.” They played along entirely with every crazy idea we had. Clients who trust you explicitly are seriously the best kind of clients you can have. Even though we were asking them to do crazy things, they were completely gung-ho. #lovedeveryminuteofthissession

After the orchard, we headed to a little river by the side of the road, and lastly to the Maine State Line for a few photos with the sign, welcoming you to the best state in the USA. I’m not biased or anything. If this session was any indication of their wedding day, Im totally and completely stoked to see them tie the knot.

Abby and Matt’s Camp Manitou Maine Wedding

We first met Abby and Matt via skype all the way from their house in Florida. I love it when we get to “meet” our couples that way if we live far apart. Right away, we knew they were a good fit for us and each other. As you can see in their faces, they are crazy in love and so so happy to be married. It felt amazing to hug them both in person after a year of emails, skypes, and facebook messaging.

They were married at Camp Manitou, where they met and worked together. It had an atmosphere of family and friends and it was clear that this was a really special place for the two of them. We felt so welcomed by everyone and even stayed in one of the rooms there after the wedding. It was what you imagine when you think of a summer camp; super cute cabins, wooden walls in the mess hall, a lake and waterfront, flagpole, game fields, etc. Abby was a total D.I.Y. bride and with the help of her family and friends, she did pretty much EVERYTHING that goes into a wedding. He hand was in every aspect of the day. To let you know how cool she is, they asked us to make sure that the first married kiss was taken from the vantage point of behind them, so that it included them AND their guests. You gotta love a bride with cool photo ideas that are outside of the box. My favorite moment of the day was when the couple was thanking their guests for being there. Abby took the mic and thanked all the people she wanted to thank and then she started to tear up a little bit. She looked at Matt and said “Of course none of this would be happening without Matt. I love you so much.” She remembered that although this was a fun crazy wedding that took a lot of work, it was all about Matt and her being in love. Amen Abby!
