Migis Lodge Wedding: Paula and Russ

Photographing Paula and Russ get married was the kind of experience I seek out. Dan and I both adore photographing couples who are confident and know themselves, feel secure in their relationship, and are getting married because they are wholly and completely in love with each other. Their wedding was simple without being plain. Both of their personalities were complimented within the vibe and design of the day, which is what we dream of being a part of as wedding photographers.

The day started for us with a few minutes of them getting ready and then it was right into the first look. Their excitement was palpable and they were so easy going through the whole process. After a few photos, it was time for the ceremony, just like that! Paula and I rode a boat to the ceremony location, where everyone was waiting for her. I’ll never get over how FAST a ceremony really happens. Within a few minutes, couples go from engaged to married. They walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. After the ceremony, they both got onto the boat for a little getaway, and then it was time for the reception.

There was food for DAYS and lots of super fun and joyful dancing. We stole away for some photos with them in the setting sun and I was vibrating with excitement because the light was INSANE. I love that they were super flexible and we could go out when the sun got stinkin gorgeous.

Exeter NH Wedding: Reynolds and Bryant

Wanna talk about a wild planning process? Well look no further than this couple. Reynolds and Bryant contacted us with a lovely plan in place to have their wedding at a NH Brewery. With everything booked and in place, the Brewery closed! They reached out to us with a new plan, a nearby Farm and Apple Orchard. Booked with the same date, everything was all set again. THEN… things had to change again, and the booked the country club ballroom that Reynolds sister had her wedding in. I literally cannot imagine the stress these two went through with that roller coaster of planning adventures. They had their hearts focused on the right thing though… each other.

The wedding day was seamless. You would never think all that went down in the planning process. The weather was absolutely ideal. The whole thing went off without a hitch. They were wrapped up in love with each other and everyone else was adoring of them. What more could you ask for on a wedding day really?

Also, take note of Reynolds dress. It was worn by many women in her family for generations. How cool is that??

Bremen Maine Wedding: Brianna and Jake

A family property on the ocean in Maine… a total dream location for us every single time.

Brianna’s family has had this farmhouse property for generations, so there was no question where she and her love Jake would have their wedding. Overlooking the ocean, they said their vows, in the side yard of the house with all their favorite people in attendance. Right afterward, the four of us went down to a nearby cove to take photos, at the height of that “Just Married” excitement!

Next, it was dinner and drinks, speeches and dancing. We loved the energy on the dance floor at their wedding. There was even a chihuahua in attendance! At the end of the night, we all walked down to the water for a fireworks show in the moonlight. Doesn’t sound like a dream you guys?

Willowdale Estate Wedding: Anna and Kyle

Our first blog post of 2019 is a banger you guys! Anna and Kyles wedding was so so pretty, with the teensiest, tiniest hint of chill in the air. They live in California now but Anna grew up in New England so they came here for their wedding. My little sister was actually suitemates with Anna back in college AND Anna’s parents housed and fed Dan and me when we were in Essex on our kayak trip back in 2009 (See dbkayak.com if you are confused about that). All that meant that we were hugely honored and excited to be a part of this wedding. Having not met Kyle until the wedding day itself, we were so stoked when we did because he could not be kinder. He was so attentive to detail and complimentary and caring. I also ADORED his suit… IT WAS EVERGREEN!

Every part of the day was a dream. Perfect light. Good vibes with the people present. Sweet ceremony tears. Delicious food, and of course… groovy dancing. What a joy to be a part of this wedding day.

Portland Maine Wedding: Arielle and Mike

Some weddings stand out pretty intensely, and Arielle and Mike’s one of a kind wedding was one of those. There’s a lot of reasons for that too. Both Arielle and Mike are staunchly independent, confident, and radiate joy. They love each other with a fierceness that anyone in their presence can see plainly. A long and intertwined love story brought these two together, kind of like a movie if you ask me. An unexpected electric love and then a parting that they thought would be forever, and then finding the path back together again after both becoming their whole selves separately. They are ethically non-monogamous, which I admittedly had to google. Airelle has written a few articles on it if you want to dig deeper: Swedish Kissing Tradition, Kink-friendly Second Wedding, Polyamory made my marriage better. BOOM!

It was super interesting to us to witness a non-traditional wedding, considering we see weddings every weekend. My favorite thing though, of the whole day was just the two of them as human beings. Being so confident and happy is an inspiring energy to be around. Hopefully, you can see that in the images. I’m still so so honored that they chose us to be their photographers for this very special wedding.
