Before they joined their guests for their Rehearsal Dinner, Kryssi and Kendall met with Dan and I for a mini-engagement session inside and around the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. We even got to steal them for a little sunset time afterwards too. These two are so excited to be together and to be getting married it was hard to even get a photo that they weren’t kissing in! They danced, they laughed, the jumped up and down, ran up and down steps and generally made our job of “organic posing” easy! What is not to love about a red head and her sweetheart?

Cristina and Jim’s Backyard Engagement Session
At first we had planned to go to Portsmouth, but the weather was bleak and we all decided to reschedule. When we did, we also changed the location to the couples backyard since Jim just thought it would be more comfortable for them both. We are SO glad we did because thier backyard is gorgeous and was the perfect setting to capture the essence of what we see in Cristina and Jim; laid back, simple, and in love. These two have been together for over 12 years and it showed in the sweetest of ways. Jim is tender with her, and Christina spent the entire session giggling. They know each other so well, and are sure of their love and themselves. It was a real honor to be able to witness that, and photograph it for them. Not to mention, Cristina was rocking a super cute dress, purple nails, and the same hairstyle she has had all her life. Can we say fashion forward?
Please don’t miss their couple interview they did for our blog recently, because the story will stop you in your tracks. August 17th can’t come fast enough for us because all we want is to be there and see the day that they have waited 12 years for.

Becca and Dave’s Cape Cod Engagement Session
Ta-da! It is Becca and Dave day! Way back in the cold winter, we met at a Starbucks with these two. We bonded over a mutual perspective on College Basketball, (GO DUKE), being dog parents, and mutual friends, (Andrew and Lisa). I remember walking out into the cold with Dan and saying to him how badly I wanted them to choose us for their wedding photographers because I just cared about them! Fast forward to the warm fun of post-memorial day weather, and we are together for their engagement session. We met up at Becca’s parents house in Sandwich and played some board games, ate watermelon, had couch and hammock time, and then played on the beach. Even though it was an engagement session, it felt like a good ole day at the cape, which was the whole idea. Happy Summer… Happy Cape Time… Happy Love. Just right.

Emma and Tate’s Blue Hills Engagement Session
Emma and Tate are getting married this July, as you might know from their “Meet our Couples” blog post. We met them at the Blue Hills Reservation, near Boston for their engagement session. They brought their sweet puppy Winston with them too!! We walked through the woods along a trail and I kept forgetting that we were there to photograph them because Emma and I just couldn’t stop talking! Once we got to the end of the trail, the woods opened up to such a cool vista it was really hard to believe we were so close to the city. After an hour of just the two of them, we brought Winston out and he stole the show, which was hard to do with these two lovebirds present. I loved seeing them as a little family, with Winson’s energy and Tate saving the day over and over again with the leash handling, (Winston is strong). I know we were there working, but after we left I felt like Dan and I had just spent the evening hanging out with Emma and Tate and Winston, watching the light fade and the weather cool. It was relaxed and welcoming, which is exactly what I imagine their wedding will be like.

Morgan and Doug’s Fenway Park and Boston Waterfront Engagement Session
Remember that day last week when the weather in Boston was nuts? It was sunny and overcast, rainy and foggy, nice and not nice? Well that was the day of Morgan and Doug’s engagement session. I can’t believe we almost called it off and just “took a few photos just in case” before it rained. Well those few photos turned into a whole session that was NOT rained out! We couldn’t be happier that happened that way either. We had been looking forward to meeting these two for a long time!
We started the session right at the Fenway Park statues and had fun breaking the ice. It is rare that we have never met with a couple until the moment before we start taking their picture. It is really hard for everyone to get comfortable and “go for it” with photographs, but these two are charmers. They didn’t need much warming up at all, and that must be because they are crazy in love and don’t care who knows it, (did you catch my Elf reference there?).  After Fenway, we made our way to the waterfront and were greeted with one of the coolest views of Boston I have seen in a while. All the buildings were covered in clouds, and the light was wild. I know it wasn’t what they were imagining for “sunset photos,” but heck… no one imagines misty crazy skyline photos, and they scored!
It was fantastic to finally meet them both and we look forward to their wedding this August!
