Nancy and Roberto’s Boston Public Garden Civil Ceremony

Simple, pure, honest, family, love and happiness… these are the take home messages that Dan and I took home from Nancy and Roberto‘s Boston Public Garden Civil Wedding Ceremony. These two walked up, read over the plan and then simply took their place before their closest family and friends. The ceremony began humbly and with only one intention: to join these two in legal marriage forever. They laughed, she cried a little bit, and they promised to love each other forever. With a kiss and an embrace they were married.

Behind them, we could see over 3 brides and 3 bridal parties, and even one very happy Quinceañera group! Even though they were all lovely, I felt like we were with the coolest couple in the park… the CITY for that matter. The only thing that mattered that day to them was love and it showed. Walking around with them we passed a crazy stressed out bride focused intently on her photos and I looked back at Nancy and Roberto and loved that they had just gotten married too… and she was happily walking around the park, with all the attention going to the other brides. It was a really sweet feeling for me, to see that humility and the happiness that these two were showing on this, their wedding day.

We had a blast in the park and then headed to their dinner, where they hosted their family and friends, celebrating their newly born marriage. It was a wedding I will never forget.

Chatham and Charlie’s Winston-Salem, NC Wedding

When Chatham told us she was getting married in her mother’s backyard, we had NO concept of the awesomeness that was in store. Don’t get me wrong, we knew it was going to be sweet and lovely and fun, but we did not know the scale of this “backyard wedding.” To give you an idea, we arrived on scene and saw a deer jump across the wooded driveway as we approached the house. That little bit of magic was just a prelude to the days events and the tone was set. Hugs and hellos greeted us as we came in the house, which was oozing style and southern grace. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, the day was seamless. We started with Chatham and Charlie’s first look followed by a few portraits of the two of them. It was really important to them that they had this special time together just before the craziness of the wedding day happened and we couldn’t have agreed more. They were able to be alone and really soak up their day together. The ceremony was held in the back yard and was followed by a poolside cocktail hour. They raised a monogrammed flag and the party officially started. Guests made their way to the tent and enjoyed mouth-watering cuisine and dancing into the night. They finished up the reception with warm Krispy Kreme donuts. What more could you ask for?

Lori and Joe’s Newport Rhode Island Wedding at the Oceancliff

If you want to have perfect weather for your wedding, you should ask Lori what she prayed for specifically, because I don’t think a more perfect weather day exists. From the ceremony to the sailing trip, the day was exactly as one would dream of. First we started the day off in a beautiful house that Lori ordered up just for lovely photos, which I love. Next we headed to the Ocean Cliff where the two were married overlooking the ocean. Lori came down the aisle laughing, in her unforgettable way and they both read their vows from an Apple device: Joe had an iPad and Lori had her iPhone. The clouds came over the ceremony and created great light and just as they kissed, the clouds moved and it was bright again. It was a photography miracle. If you are a photographer yourself, you will understand. Thanks God!

The reception had some funny moments and even a group line dance to Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road.” Joe cried during the first dance, and so did his mom during hers. It was like mother like son. After the reception a few of the guests headed over to the harbor where we boarded a sailing ship and enjoyed a sunset cruise to close out the night. The sunset was stunning… as it always is and we even passed the Ocean Cliff on our trip. We had been looking forward to this wedding all year and it did not disappoint.

Abby and Matt’s Camp Manitou Maine Wedding

We first met Abby and Matt via skype all the way from their house in Florida. I love it when we get to “meet” our couples that way if we live far apart. Right away, we knew they were a good fit for us and each other. As you can see in their faces, they are crazy in love and so so happy to be married. It felt amazing to hug them both in person after a year of emails, skypes, and facebook messaging.

They were married at Camp Manitou, where they met and worked together. It had an atmosphere of family and friends and it was clear that this was a really special place for the two of them. We felt so welcomed by everyone and even stayed in one of the rooms there after the wedding. It was what you imagine when you think of a summer camp; super cute cabins, wooden walls in the mess hall, a lake and waterfront, flagpole, game fields, etc. Abby was a total D.I.Y. bride and with the help of her family and friends, she did pretty much EVERYTHING that goes into a wedding. He hand was in every aspect of the day. To let you know how cool she is, they asked us to make sure that the first married kiss was taken from the vantage point of behind them, so that it included them AND their guests. You gotta love a bride with cool photo ideas that are outside of the box. My favorite moment of the day was when the couple was thanking their guests for being there. Abby took the mic and thanked all the people she wanted to thank and then she started to tear up a little bit. She looked at Matt and said “Of course none of this would be happening without Matt. I love you so much.” She remembered that although this was a fun crazy wedding that took a lot of work, it was all about Matt and her being in love. Amen Abby!

Abbie and Javi’s Maine Summer Camp Wedding

Abbie and Javi were married at Camp Wohelo, making her the fourth generation in her family to wed there. Javi and his family are Cuban and brought the party to Maine! I remember skyping with them the first time and when we closed the call, I looked at Dan and said “O MY GOD I love them!!! We have to do their wedding!!!” It was love at first skype for us! They are our very own Lucy and Ricky…

The wedding was at a local Catholic church and was followed by the reception at the camp, with a dinner of Lobsters caught and cooked by Abbie’s Dad. All the details were made with love by Abbie herself and the cake was made by her mother and decorated by her sister. The guests, although they were from great distances and did not know one another very well in the beginning, it really started to feel like two families coming together, rather than just Abbie and Javi. The weather was undeniably perfect, with a sunset that was a stunning capstone to the day. I was wondering why no one was really dancing after dinner and then Dan let me know that nature was stealing the show with its closing sunset. Once the stars came out, the dancing began and it was all smiles all night!

As a special treat, Aaron Steel of A Good Look Productions shared this film he shot of their wedding day! Enjoy!
