Long Island Maine Wedding: Lauren and Matt

The energy and joy from these two was palpable. When I think back to this wedding, where SO MUCH happened, all that Im left with immediately is just how happy Lauren and Matt were the whole day.

Let me start from the beginning. Lauren got ready in downtown Portland and then headed over to the chapel, where Matt and everyone else was waiting for her arrival. The ceremony was tearful and joyful, officiated by one of their dear friends. Before we knew it, they were officially husband and wife.

The next step of the day was to coordinate and get everyone on a Casco Bay Lines ferry to head over to Long Island Maine. There we all headed up to the island venue and started the reception. Right after toasts, the power went out on the whole island and you know what? It was all good. We cut the cake on the deck and shotgunned beers on the beach. All I can say is #proud

Peaks Island Engagement Session: Cassandra and Derek

One of the highest honors you can receive as a wedding photographer is to be asked to photograph other photographers. Cassandra is a wedding photographer here in Maine as well and we were over the moon when they asked us to be the photographers for their wedding.

Of course, we wanted to do an engagement session with them, and they chose to have the session at one of their favorite getaways, Peaks Island. We had to reschedule the session more than once with the weather and other things so when we finally all got together we were all stoked! I have always wanted to photograph at this fort with a couple and they were 100% down. Of course.

As I write this, we have since photographed their wedding too and I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW IT OFF! Coming soon 😉

Two Lights State Park Anniversary Session: Michelle and David

For their two year anniversary, Michelle and David wanted to have their photos taken to honor the huge step they took in their relationship: Moving from Texas to Maine! It was important to them that there was snow and a rocky coastline since that is pretty far from their previous digs in Texas. We are so happy they are here in Maine selfishly because we adore them and see many double dates in our future. I know Texas must be jealous.

Can you tell from these photos that David was freezing his buns off since he only had on a flannel shirt to keep him warm? Worth it.

Portland Maine Wedding: Arielle and Mike

Some weddings stand out pretty intensely, and Arielle and Mike’s one of a kind wedding was one of those. There’s a lot of reasons for that too. Both Arielle and Mike are staunchly independent, confident, and radiate joy. They love each other with a fierceness that anyone in their presence can see plainly. A long and intertwined love story brought these two together, kind of like a movie if you ask me. An unexpected electric love and then a parting that they thought would be forever, and then finding the path back together again after both becoming their whole selves separately. They are ethically non-monogamous, which I admittedly had to google. Airelle has written a few articles on it if you want to dig deeper: Swedish Kissing Tradition, Kink-friendly Second Wedding, Polyamory made my marriage better. BOOM!

It was super interesting to us to witness a non-traditional wedding, considering we see weddings every weekend. My favorite thing though, of the whole day was just the two of them as human beings. Being so confident and happy is an inspiring energy to be around. Hopefully, you can see that in the images. I’m still so so honored that they chose us to be their photographers for this very special wedding.

Spring Point Light Portrait Session: Cody and Megan

Photographing our friends is always such a nice thing to be able to do. I love being able to give people we love something that I know they can’t do for themselves. Cody and Megan actually helped you guys out too this year, because they walked our little dog Hattie so many Saturday’s while we were away photographing your weddings! They made it possible for us to have her home when we got home, instead of at a kennel. That made our whole wedding season easier and happier and it included more dog kisses that we had in previous years. So important.

So… we photographed their little family, including their sweet dog Malachi. It was really really cold but these three handled it like champs. Plus, photos in the cold require more snuggling, so there’s nothing bad about that. Im so glad Cody and Megan are in our lives. They are so easy to talk to and spend countless hours on our couch watching TV and movies with us, sharing good food at our table, and being all around good friends who are comfortable enough to just spend the day hanging out, no plans, just being together. I love that about our friendship.
