Higgins Beach Maine Portraits: Marc and Shauna

We have actually been friends with Marc and Shauna since we lived in Boston back in the day! The connection was through mutual friends and then Dan and Marc became a surfing crew. Heck, Dan is getting ready for a surf session with Marc right now as I type this! Shauna is a surfing queen herself so it was only fitting to take some portraits of them at the beach… surfing!

These two are having a baby and they wanted a few photos of the two of them and a few they could use to announce the pregnancy. We were stoked to do this for them since it’s exciting for all of us! Being able to photograph IN the ocean is a pretty cool option we have for our clients so it was fun to use that with our friends.

Essex Massachusetts Portrait Session: Anna and Kyle

Anna and Kyle got married last year. Go see the blog post. I’ll wait.

Ok. How cute right? Well, we wanted to do an engagement session with them before the wedding but the timing never worked out, (they lived in California at the time). This summer though, they were in New England and we got to make it happen! It was really fun to see the two of them again after their wedding too. The raporrt between the two of them is so casual and kind and it’s simply a joy to be around them. We hung out in a park for a while then headed over to the beach for some boating and swimming. Is there a better way to spend a summer evening?

Jockeys Ridge Portrait Session: Emily and Jim

As you probably know, Dan and I spend a lot of time in the Outer Banks of NC during the winter and spring months. Come to think of it, we really should start marketing down there and shoot some weddings dontcha think??

Emily and Jim are friends of ours and have been for years. They are OBX locals, living that dream beach life all year round. Jim and Dan surf together when we are there and we like to get together for dinners and brunches and general hangouts as much as we can. Since they are the cutest, and we have been friends with them forever, we wanted to take some photos of them so… we did!

For the past couple years I’ve wanted to photograph a red dress vibe on Jockey’s Ridge.. and we finally did it. Big thanks to a local thrift store for a red nightgown, wal-mart for 5 yards of red fabric, and Emily for being our model. Boom!

Two Lights State Park Anniversary Session: Michelle and David

For their two year anniversary, Michelle and David wanted to have their photos taken to honor the huge step they took in their relationship: Moving from Texas to Maine! It was important to them that there was snow and a rocky coastline since that is pretty far from their previous digs in Texas. We are so happy they are here in Maine selfishly because we adore them and see many double dates in our future. I know Texas must be jealous.

Can you tell from these photos that David was freezing his buns off since he only had on a flannel shirt to keep him warm? Worth it.
