Ogunquit Maine Wedding: Jill and Zach

It was another scorcher here in Maine for Jill and Zach’s wedding day. Thankfully we got to hang out in some a/c while the couple got ready for the day. I could only imagine what these midwestern folks were thinking about the hot hot heat since I doubt they were expecting this with their New England Destination wedding We met up for a first look and then headed to the famous Marginal Way in Ogunquit for couple photos. I adore the way Zack looks at Jill. You can see the cute in one of the ceremony photos here in this post. Let’s all have a collective “awwwwwwwwww,” shall we?

After a Ketubah signing, they headed to the ceremony. They even had umbrellas to use a parasols for the guests, which we thought was brilliant considering the need for shade during the ceremony. Nice touch. Everyone headed over to the reception via trolleys where they enjoyed quite possibly the best dinner we have ever had at a wedding. My eyes were rolling in the back of my head the BBQ was so good. After that mind boggling meal, they enjoyed one of the best DJ’s we have ever heard too! I mean it was an evening of bests. We loved being a part of this day.

Peaks Island Maine Wedding: Kaylyn and Evan

A wedding on Peaks Island always has that little something special. Being on an island means you have to try just a little harder to plan, just a little harder to coordinate and just a little harder to make it happen. I love it when our couples put in that extra effort. Kaylyn and Evan were so ready to be husband and wife. All day Kaylyn was buzzing about so ready to walk down the aisle. She laughed, cried and jumped around when she got into the dress and put on the veil. Evan cried when she walked down the aisle in the backyard of a family cottage. With the ocean backdrop, they said “YES!” and before you knew it, the deal was done.

It was a super super hot day here in Maine. The light was bright and the sun was was cooking us all with its delicious heat. I was pretty impressed with the dancing that took place at the reception in spite of the humidity. Props to you guys. Evan wrote the first dance song AND a special song for his mother son dance. How cool is that? Then a surprise ukulele band comprised of family and friends played a special song and then walked down to the ferry dock to send the couple off on their Hawaiian honeymoon. Such a cute and fun day.

Killington Vermont Wedding: Katie and Joel

Anytime anyone says they are having a wedding in Vermont, we know its going to be special. There is just something about that state!!! Amiright? Katie and Joel planned a destination wedding while moving from Denver to Philly. Impressive feat. What’s more is that the wedding went along seamlessly, even in thh face of a rainy wet day. Well done you two…. well done.

Mountain Meadows Lodge is actually right along the Appalachian Trail! They both got ready there and only left for a short trip into Rutland to have their Catholic Ceremony in a local church. The rest of the weekend was spent entirely at the lodge among family and friends. It was a total getaway for everyone involved, including us! One of my favorite parts of the day was when Kate and I decided to go for it and have the portraits taken back at the lodge rather than the church. It was something she really wanted to do but it was a big risk since it was raining when we made the decision. Luckily, just as we got back to the lodge after the ceremony, the rain stopped and she got her outdoor portraits. Perfect.

Katie and Joel, thank you both for having us to such a special weekend and including us as such a big part of your wedding weekend. We are so happy we got to be there with you both… AND all your crew.

Kennebunkport Wedding: Sara and Mike

Kennebunkport in the Summer is quintessential Maine for many. Heck, our former presidents have made it into their very own getaway and we can’t fault them for it. It’s gorgeous. No wonder Sara and Mike chose to marry there, not to to far from their home in Boston… but it does feel like a world away.

Sara and her girls got ready with lots of champagne and laughter. I loved the moment she opened her card and gift from Mike. The tears were flowing… so much so there was definitely a make-up re-touch. True love ya’ll…. true love. The guys got ready and took a big glorious sailboat from their getting ready location to the ceremony. Can we just all agree that is QUITE the entrance? The ladies and I watch it sail by and dock from a hidden window at it was one of my favorite moments of the day.

After a lovely ceremony, the couple came with us for photos while their friends and family enjoyed a cocktail hour on the lawn of the Nonantum Resort. At the reception, kind toasts and great dancing abounded. It was a picture perfect day.

Cape Elizabeth Maine Wedding: Oren and Erica

Oren and Erica are that kind of long time love that we all admire. They’ve grown up together, having been together since they were 18! As much as a wedding day holds great significance, in many minds there that day, they have been married forever. Erica got ready casually among her closest friends and family, and Oren did the same. After a sweet first look, they headed back upstairs for the signing of the Ketubah, which is the legal marriage in the eyes of the Jewish faith.

Before the ink dried, they headed outside for the formal ceremony. The light mist that fell from the sky was even more romantic, and just added to the ceremony. Afterwards, it was dinner drinks and dancing. We stole the couple for a few last min portraits before they headed to an after party. A sweet way to spend our Saturday and really kick off the 2016 wedding season here in Maine.
