Hanover New Hampshire Wedding: Nji and Russell

Nji and Russell’s wedding was one that we will lovingly refer to as one of “the big ones” of 2015. They pulled out all the stops, from tuxedos to designer gowns, gorgeous flowers to tasty dinner, beautiful lighting at the reception and a gorgeous ceremony location. The only thing that they couldn’t plan on was the weather, which did rain. You might think that would put a damper on such an event but no. I wish you could have been there to see just how positive and upbeat and “no worries man” they were about the showers. Talk about rolling with the punches! After a run through the rain, they married one another in the presence of friends and family that came from literally all over the world. This was also the wedding with the tallest bridesmaids that there has ever been in the history of weddings! For the first time ever in my photography career, I wasnt the tallest girl in the room, and not by a long shot. Over six feet was the norm with these volleyball ladies and they all wore heels too. It was fabulous!

The dance party was on point, and reiterated the fact that New Yorkers know how to throw a party. Nji’s brother even dropped a new single debut at the reception! The speeches had guests crying from love and laughter. It was clear that this marriage was one that everyone was thrilled about, and we were thrilled to have been there.

Portland Maine Sailboat Wedding: Dan and Kristen

We met Dan and Kristen when we first moved the New England back in 2011! They both worked at Charles River Canoe and Kayak with us, Dan even taking us out for dinner on one of our first nights in Boston. They came over to our house for Superbowl Parties, and group watching of The Bachelor. We went over to their house for Cookie Parties at Christmas. They beat us to moving to Maine but we soon followed and of course are still friends. When they planned their Sailboat wedding we were dying for an invite, and even more honored when they invited us to photograph it for them. Dan is a landscape photographer and Kristen is a painter, so we took it as a high compliment to be taken in as artists with them.

Besides their art world, they are equally ocean-minded people, both as salty and sea-legged as you can find without going into the realm of storybooks. Kristen builds boats for goodness sakes! There was no other place that they could even consider getting married other than floating on the big blue sea.

We met them at their house where they got ready together and then headed over to the docks to meet their family and get sailing! On the boat we headed to the Portland Head Light, where they said their vows in sight of the famous lighthouse. Next we sailed to Cow Island where they treated their family to a lobster bake. Then we all headed back to Portland as the sun set. I kept pinching myself throughout the day because it almost felt surreal to be a part of such a unique and special wedding.

Scarborough Maine Wedding: Aimee and Mitchell

When we photograph people who have most definitely become friends of ours the day takes on a whole new perspective for us. I can’t tell you how hard it was to cull and edit this weeding down to a reasonable number of photos because we just love most everyone in the photos! We knew so many people at the wedding, many being past wedding couples of ours. It was the first wedding we actually packed up our gear and came back for dancing once our night was finished.

Aimee and Mitchell have a long long love story and this day was much anticipated by everyone present. The whole event took place on Mitchell’s family farm here in Maine. Guests were invited to camp out on the property! The ceremony had a lot of happy tears and the reception that followed had a lot of dance moves! It was a wedding planned around fun and love and happiness and it was a roaring success.

Portland Maine Wedding: Katie and Luke

Katie and Luke had a beautiful brunch wedding, just like what we did for our own wedding!! Brunch wins! Katie got ready at the couples new home they purchased recently, and Luke got ready here in Portland. They met at the alter in the always fun Portland Company, where they also had their reception. The room was filled with bright colors and super fun flowers, all arranged by a family member! We were definitely impressed. Some of our favorite details of the day were the flowers, the food (which included a plate of just bacon!), the cake cutting via a sword, and Luke’s tears during the ceremony. It was such a fun day! They left the reception at 4:30pm, just in time to start an epic after-party!

Warren Vermont Wedding: Brianne and Sean

Brianne and Sean took a risk and planned their wedding for the top of a ski mountain in beautiful Vermont. For the second time in our photography career, a ski mountain-top wedding was rained out and the rain plan was enacted. The last time was at Brittany and Jim’s wedding.  Luckily though, like at any rain wedding, they rolled with the punches, had fantastic attitudes, and the backup plan was lovely! The guys played video games until the last moments before the ceremony and the ladies did what ladies do, primp and laugh and toast to the day! The ceremony was not long after the supreme court ruling on marriage equality and Brianne and Sean chose to use a quote about marriage from that historic day as party of their wedding ceremony. It was beautiful.

Once the party got underway, it was on! The dancing and music were so fun and we were sweating right along with the guests. You can count on Bostonian’s to bring a good dance party wherever they go.
