Pat and Amanda’s Sugarbush VT Wedding

Pat and Amanda… the couple we were late to their 6:00am engagement session for… sigh. Answering the phone that morning in my pajamas sent my blood to run cold. We felt so bad we believed they would hate us forever. On the contrary, Pat and Amanda are gracious, forgiving, and just too in love to worry about that kind of thing. I can assure you were were there the night BEFORE their wedding.

God was blessing this day with some sprinkles and best of all, a majestic overcast sky. It was was ridiculously beautiful in Vermont that weekend, and it was hard not to believe it was that way just for the wedding of Pat and Amanda. As you will see, the landscape was over the top lovely and the couple was rivaling that with their looks. Despite a hot church with no a/c, the ceremony was respectful and beautiful. We went up to the top of a mountain for the portraits and it was worth the drive, let me tell you. Afterwards we all headed to their reception at the Sugarbush Resort, where we danced the night away.

Lisa and Suzy’s Portsmouth NH Wedding

Lisa and Suzy were married July 28, 2012… almost twenty years after they began their relationship. They are officially the couple who has been together the longest that we have had the honor of photographing a wedding for. It was one of the most heartfelt yet relaxed weddings that we have been to. They got ready together, and then walked hand in hand to their ceremony at the Moffatt-Ladd House & Gardens. During the vow exchange, Suzy cracked a joke that had everyone in the place laughing and then as the ceremony progressed, they had everyone crying tears of joy. It was a momentous ceremony, since they were only able to marry legally very recently. After a receiving line filled with hugs and tears, Lisa and Suzy headed up to their cocktail hour and reception at The 100 Club. It was classy, fun, and seemed to be a room filled with people who all love one another. I hope we were able to fulfill their only photography request, “We would like the candid photos to reflect the best party we ever threw!” Well done Lisa and Suzy!

Lyndsey and Ben’s Portland Maine Wedding

Finally we got to photograph a wedding in our favorite city, Portland Maine!

Lyndsey and Ben, (who are adorable as you can see on their “Meet Our Couples” blog post as well as their “Engagement Session” blog post), had a wedding that was a party and a blast the entire day! Typically there are a few different phases throughout the day, but it was honestly a fun-fest from before we got there until after we left. We met the girls at the O2 Salon, because Ben and his guys were going to be a few minutes late due to the fact that they were shooting guns like good ole’ boys. Fact. The girls were chillin’ at the salon, on time, and having a blast. Once we were all ready, we headed to the chartered SCHOOL BUS to take us around the city and have a photo taking fiesta. Lyndsey and Ben had their first-look in private and then it was ON with all their bridal party, them, and us. We went all over Portland, taking photos at Widgery Warf, the Old Port, and inside Gritty’s Brew Pub. They were having so much fun, the bartender thought they were celebrating post-wedding. When he found out it was PRE-ceremony he was highly impressed and said he had more respect for them now. I don’t get it but it is pretty funny just the same. My favorite moment of the ceremony was when they passed their rings through the family in the crowd so they could bless the rings before they were exchanged. It was a really unique moment that I really loved.

After the ceremony, the family had a private toast upstairs at the Port City Music Hall. Next they headed downstairs and tapped two kegs to get the reception started. We did a took more couple photos, including a few mini-couple sessions for their Bridal Party, as a gift from Lyndsey and Ben to their friends. It was super fun! The dance party began and didn’t stop. I felt like we have JUST arrived on scene when we had to leave. When our friend Brandy came to pick us up, I wanted to come back in and crash it with her and get our dance on! Yay for Lyndsey and Ben and their INCREDIBLY fun wedding!

Kristin and Will’s Rivermill NH Wedding

When Kristin walked into the Rivermill to get ready for the day, she burst into tears. It was that moment when she realized that all the hard work and all the planning was finally coming together and her dream was coming to life. The room was beautiful, with teal and white on the tables, with simple and elegant centerpieces of pink peonies. The light was just right and the room looked perfect to her. That was one of the only moments she cried (seconded only with a fear sweet tears during the father daughter dance). Will had spent the morning with his friends and family playing miniature golf and driving go-karts before finishing it off with a little honey-badger on you-tube. What could be more dude-like right?

They said their vows, had their first kiss, and it was on to dinner and dancing! It was so fun to see how many people danced at this wedding from young to old. We loved the variety and the energy! It kept us going too. Kristin isn’t a huge fan of the traditional bouquet toss so she made a MONEY bouquet! It was awesome! Everyone who was single… or lying… bunched up to fight for the flying future beer (or shoes) money. It was hilarious to watch.

After spending a short time with them during their engagement session, Dan and I knew their wedding would be fun, quirky, colorful, and a good time… and we were right.

Julie and Chet’s Sebasco Maine Wedding

When Julie and Chet contacted us about their wedding we were so excited about it. We could tell they were unique and fun and we are all about that. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Dan and I were able to get to know them a little better and we were right. We loved them. Julie was such a cool girl. I wish I could think of a better word to describe her but honestly, “cool” fits her pretty well. Chet is the kind of person that you are fast friends with and who will be the friend you always want to be more like. This was shown over and over again for both of them through the speeches at their reception.

Julie and Chet are private couple. This trait created one of the most romantic and intimate moments that we have ever witnessed as wedding photographers. Julie and Chet opted to exchange vows with one another alone. On their wedding day, after their “first look,” they walked out onto a private cove and told one another their commitment. Dan and I stood far away with our cameras, honored to be the only witnesses of the event. After their private vow ceremony they had a more traditional ceremony later, complete with wedding vows about Law & Order and future puppies together.

The reception was Maine “to a T” with Maine brews and Lobster and family and friends enjoyed an evening celebrating Julie and Chet’s forever love.
