Andrea and Mike’s New Hampshire Engagement Session

Ok… this is might just be the craziest way of connecting with a couple we have experienced to date. Andrea and I met in line at a book signing. That’s right…. a book signing. It was a COLD night in Boston in early December last year. Young House Love, a blog that we are both huge fans of, was in town for their first ever book, and of course we were both there to meet them and have our books autographed by the great John and Sherry! If you want a new blog to obsess over and dream big with for your own home, please go there immediately following this post, (you have to meet Andrea and Mike first). Andrea and I were in line together and it was a looooooong line, so we struck up a conversation. As all first intro’s go, we both talked about what we do. I of course told her about our wedding photography and she told me about her own DIY blog, My Kinda Perfect. Since that evening, we have kept in touch and she even featured Welcome Them Home on her blog once. When her long-time boyfriend Mike proposed to her…. she emailed us like lightening! I firmly believe they should send a Save the Date to John, Sherry, Clara, Burger… and the bun. Yeah Andrea?

We met them in NH for a tiny hike up to a gorgeous overlook, taking in ALL that gorgeous foliage that is happening right now in the New England. It was a super laid back session, with lots of snuggling and laughing. We had a blast with them and know that their wedding will be much the same.

PS: Andrea’s eyes might just knock your socks off. Fair warning.

Kim and Justin’s Brooklyn Engagement Session

After a fun day walking around the city, Dan and I sat on a park bench watching the ice cream eaters and dog walkers underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. We were just relaxing for an hour before Kim and Justin’s engagement session was to begin. When they arrived, we were so happy to finally meet Justin in person, having only met Kim at a cafe in Cambridge a few months earlier. As soon as we began, we were almost inundated with Wedding Parties and Quincieras all being photographed all around us. At one point, we could see three separate brides, all at once. Apparently we were in the right place for photographs!

We hung out in the park for a while, walking along the water and dancing in the shade. After an hour or so, we headed up to the bridge itself to walk across it and create some unforgettable images. Walking across the bridge has always been a bucket list item for me, so when Kim suggested this as a location I almost jumped out of my office chair. It totally and completely lived up to my expectations. I also really loved that it wasn’t just a tourist location for them. This is where they live and it is meaningful to them. That’s how we like it.

My only piece of advice if you want to photograph or be photographed on the bridge: watch out for the bikes!

Christina and Chris’ Manhattan Engagement Session

I love heading to an engagement and getting a voicemail from the future bride that says “Happy Engagement Day! We are so excited!” I mean seriously, what is not to love? We met them in Central Park and then did a whirlwind tour of the city, visiting their old apartment, a rooftop deck, and the where they first met. I really enjoyed how personal she made the locations. Each spot, including the Bethesda Fountain, were all meaningful to them. Well done Christina, well done.

Dan and I were looking forward to this session so much and it completely lived up to our hopes. After the shoot, we had cocktails and bar food from heaven (think the best mac and cheese you have ever had and then double that awesomeness). It was a perfect closing to the evening. Thank you both for everything. You hosted us well in your beloved city.

Kelsey and Chad’s Beverly MA Engagement Session

It was less than a week from the day we officially become their wedding photographers that we shot their engagement session! Talk about getting right down to business right? We like that!

Kelsey and Chad had us over to her parents home in Beverly and we did the whole session simply in their yard, and a little sand beach just a stones throw away. With Griffin, thier huge loveable dog, and Bella, Kelsey’s precious bichon, we spent two hours just playing around! Chad serenaded Kelsey and they had glasses of sangria while we gushed about the light and the scenery. A little rain fell and we went inside and sat by a huge picture window and Chad just kept kissing her. Seriously… this guy LOVES this girl. He holds the record of one of my top statements ever said… “I didn’t give her this ring to be engaged to her, I gave her this ring so I could be married to her.”           **and we all faint together**

Their wedding next year is going to be love filled, gorgeous, and full of the greatness of Kelsey and Chad. We are obviously excited.

Kristen and Rhett’s Ogunquit Maine Engagement Session

We parked our car and we looked around wondering which one of these passers by was our couple. Rarely do we never see the couple before the engagement session so we had absolutely no idea what they looked like. When these two walked by Dan and I both thought, “MAN I hope that is them! Look how adorable they are together!” Lo and Behold, it was them! We proceeded to stroll around in Ogunquit on the docks, in a strangers car (no lie) and along the Marginal Way trail to a little sandy beach Kristen remembered from her childhood. They were so laid back and in love that it was a breeze to work with them. They were also crazy brave, braver than I. They wanted photos on cliffs and the edge of many precipices. I guess thats what happens when you have an outdoorsy Colorado couple. We had a great evening with them and enjoyed the beauty of Maine and true love together.
