Amber and Mark’s Boothbay Harbor Maine Wedding

After a ridiculously beautiful Rehearsal Dinner, Amber and Mark’s wedding guests woke up to a forecast of rain and high winds. The couple had already moved to their “Plan C” since “Plan A” was outside on a deck and “Plan B” was under a tent, both of which would not work in that weather. You would expect Amber and Mark to be a bit disappointed, which they were, however…. they were not showing it. We walked into rooms with happy attendants and happy Amber and Mark. It was a testament to the fact that the wedding, for them, was not about anything other than marrying one another. In spite of the weather, there was a lot of opportunity to have fun with the photos too! Who would have thought that umbrellas were so photogenic? The Spruce Point Inn was in action with making “Plan C” lovely, and everyone was able to not only hear the couple say their vows in comfortable pretty chairs, but no one was getting rained on or blown out of their seats.

After the ceremony everyone went to the Pemaquid Room and signed this adventurous couples guestbook, which was a stack of postcards that they wanted everyone to write a note to them on. We loved the idea! The speeches were touching, the cake was delicious and by the end of the night, dancers young and old were fist-pumping on the dance floor.

Dane and Michelle’s Virginia Beach VA Wedding

It was slightly overcast and breezy outside the day of Dane and Michelle’s Virginia Beach wedding. The weather said it was going to rain. As Michelle got ready, I heard almost no mention of the impending rain but rather casual chat and comfort among friends and family. Michelle seemed completely unphased by the fact that their wedding may be a rainy event. It was clear that her sole focus for this day was to marry Dane. During the first look it was impossible to keep a dry eye. It was just so sweet to see how excited Dane was to see his bride! Dane and Michelle have been together over seven years and that history created such a comfortable environment. They just knew each other so well that this felt like a celebration of something that everyone involved felt sure of. It felt like it was meant to be without question. Michelle is Dane’s girl… and there is no doubt about it. The way he looks at her was enough to make me cry sitting at home editing these photos! That is how intense and honest this love story is. It rained, and it cleared up, and most importantly of all the weather had no effect on their day. It was… perfect.

2011: Favorite Photos

In the ninth hour, Dan and I finally sat down to look through our hard work of 2011 and review all the images we took through weddings, engagement sessions, family sessions, and commercial shoots. We closed our eyes and thought of the images that came to mind instantly and want to share them with you. It’s amazing to see all the people we got to meet and share really precious moments with throughout 12 short months. Everyone will have a lasting impression on our lives and on our work and portfolio. We are blessed to have met all of you and are grateful to you for choosing us to capture what was important to you. You really rocked out world. Here’s to 2012 and all that it holds!

Eirik and Deanna’s Napa, CA Wedding

Deanna and Eirik (pronounced “Eye-rick”) met on Facebook if you can believe it! Eirik is Norwegian and has a mutual friend to Deanna, Jarred, who was the best man. Jared started a conversation with Deanna on Facebook, forgetting he was on Eirik’s computer logged in as him instead. After a while of talking back and forth online, Eirik offered to meet with her in Venice and she agreed. Now that’s a good first date!  Deanna and Eirik  were married in Deanna’s family’s front yard in Napa, California. It was a home grown event, full of sweet touches and gifts from everyone, including a family friend who was a chef providing the meal, Deanna’s brothers building the dance floor, music written and sang by family, as well as a special song written and sang by the groom and performed by her siblings. Three of Eirik’s friends flew from Norway for the wedding, as well as his Father and Sister. His mother couldn’t make it but she was able to be there for it all via skype! Eirik’s Dad filmed a lot of the day and always had her within the reach of an iPad. It was very cool to be able to have her see what was happening and even talk to them! During their couple portrait time, Eirik said “Wait I forgot I need to do something! I need to change my facebook status to married!” Deanna will begin a new life with Eirik in Oslo, Norway, but not before they travel the world for a few months as an extended honeymoon!

Sarah and Brandon’s New Gloucester, Maine Wedding

We cannot adequately express  how beautiful Sarah and Brandon’s wedding was. If there is a quintessential DIY rustic Maine wedding, it’s this one. From the handmade pennants, (that will be made into a quilt), to the wildflower bouquets, to the Whoopie Pies… everything was adorable. The Merrill Farmhouse at Pineland Farms was the perfect setting for Sarah and Brandon’s wedding. These two live across the country on the west coast, but made it a point to have their wedding waaaay over here on the East Coast. The family and friends were tightly knit, and the speeches even brought tears from the best of them! We had such a good time with them, and wish these two encouragement along their running path, (they run every morning together). Congratulations!
