Meghan and Devin’s Boston Engagement Session

Meghan and Devin met us at the restaurant that he proposed to her in! We adore when couples incorporate their love story into the engagement session. We hung out inside for a while and then made our way out into the gorgeous light! We just walked from Toro in the South End to at least 3 little parks nearby. Then we made our way to the Christian Science Plaza, one of my favorite spots in the city. I felt like the entire way there were amazing little spots to take photos, and at each new spot the light was delicious. Devin and Meghan were super easy to photograph because they just snuggled and kissed and laughed for two hours! Afterwards they even went on a date to the Top of the Hub, another one of my favorite Boston spots! It was a great way to spend the evening, getting to know these two and walking around one of the greatest cities in the world.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was me jumping into the water fountain for a crazy water angle and getting completely hit by one of the water upshoots! Anything for the shot right?

Kate and Michael’s Southport Maine Wedding

Kate and Michael’s wedding day took place at the Newagen Seaside Inn in gorgeous Mid-Coast Maine, close to Boothbay Harbor. It is actually one of Dan and my favorite spots in Maine! The last time we photographed a wedding in this area it was a hurricane so the weather on this day was really welcomed by us. There were a lot of fun details to this day too, like the fact that they shipped in their favorite ice cream all the way from Ohio and the awesome cocktails they made to pay homage to where the live, Manhattan! My favorite detail of all was her dress. She wore a short dancing dress and then added a skirt over it that was made from her mothers wedding dress. It was super unique and even more lovely.

They did their first look on the rocks overlooking the water, which was obviously stunning. The ceremony overlooked one of our favorite Maine vistas, that we have visited personally more than once. The details we well thought out and the food was out of this world. After dinner and toasts, the dance party began. I loved how the Newagen Seaside Inn up-lit the room and made the photos ever cooler. We love lights like that! Take note. Enjoy this cute Mid-Coast Maine wedding ok?

Vee and Mike’s Willowdale Estate Wedding

Vee and Mike’s Willowdale Estate wedding is finally here to show off on the blog! It was SUCH a classic and classy wedding, and if you don’t already know, we LOVE Tuxedos so this was right up our alley! Everyone got ready at the hotel and then we did a little non-first look right in the hallway since Vee just couldn’t help from at least holding his hand before the ceremony. The guys headed to a local bar and imbibed in some HUGE shots thanks to being friends with the bar tender. The ladies rode the trolley to the ceremony and waited in the wings for everything to start. There ceremony was much like other ceremonies except for one big unplanned moment when the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF! The priest, although a little confused, continued with the ceremony, although I do think he skipped over all the non-necessary talking. Right before they kissed, the alarm stopped, and we all went outside to find the fire department, all ready to go just in case. It was truly unforgettable. You gotta love a couple who can take that in stride. We obviously took some images with the firetruck because how can you not? Amiright? The “you guys are just too hot,” jokes came shortly afterwards.

We all headed to the gorgeous reception and Dan and I hung out with the bridal party on the front lawn, trying to keep up with the groomsmen and their antics. After a rowdy photo session, we took Vee and Mike for a few of just them, Vee laughing practically the entire time. Then it was dinner and dancing time! Everyone was so fun to be around and we didn’t want to leave, which I can only guess is how everyone there felt that night. We are so happy these two are married and we were there to photograph it.

PUERTO RICO TRIP 2014: EL YUNQUE AND SAN JUAN

Part Two of our Puerto Rico Trip with Dan’s redheaded family is here! This portion of the trip was our non-Culebra days 😉

After 5 days on the island, we headed back to the mainland and spent a day in San Juan and a day in the rainforest: El Yunque. The rainforest day we hiked to the top of a mountain and got to see the radical view. We could see both the north and south side of the island from our vantage point. It was actually worth the sweat and complaining from this office dweller. It also reminded me that I really need to stretch my calves more often and work out. That being said, I made it and I loved being at the top. It’s a must do when you visit Puerto Rico.

In San Juan we went to my favorite spot: El Morro!!! I swear it is the coolest and best fort I have ever been to, and that means a lot coming from a girl married to Dan… who loves to visit every fort we get even remotely close to in our travels. #fortsarekindaboring” All that being said, do not miss this place. Every time we have been, which is already up to three times with us, we have been unable to control ourselves with the photo taking. It is absolutely the most photogenic fort eva! Dear future bride and grooms, please pretty please, book a post-wedding session with us and let us photograph you at this place for 2 uninterrupted hours. We may faint from joy.

After El Morro, we just enjoyed the streets, cats, and colors of Old San Juan. I think Dan and I started to annoy the red heads with all our photo taking. We seriously could not help it. San Juan is a photographic super star.

Puerto Rico Trip 2014: Culebra and Underwater Fun

Welcome to part one of our trip to Puerto Rico! We were there to photograph Lisa Ann and Jordan’s wedding and post-wedding session. Since we get to travel a lot we thought we would invite Dan’s family with us this time so they could share in the fun! Three of his four brothers and his mom came along: Heath, David, Stephen, and Sam! We spend the majority of our trip on the island of Culebra which is “about” equidistant from both the main island of Puerto Rico and St. Thomas. It’s only 11 square miles with just over 1,000 residents, so to tell you it is small and sleepy is kind of redundant. It is a PERFECT place to get away and we would highly recommend a visit if that is what you are looking for. We rented a house via VRBO and really enjoyed ourselves.

Another new and exciting thing about this trip is that we now have an Outex for our DSLR!!! We were able to photograph not only our couple’s post wedding session in the most beautiful water I have ever been in BUT we were also able to photograph ourselves and our family doing what we did almost the entire trip: underwater fun! We have wanted one of these for ages and this was the final push we needed to purchase one. It is so stinkin cool!!!

This blog post includes both iPhone and Nikon shots featuring:

  • The ferry to and from Fajardo and Culebra: about an hour boat ride for $2 (!!!!) The only other option is a tiny plane, which I was having no part of.
  • Flamenco Beach: One of the top 10 beaches in the entire world. This beach completely blew my radar for what a perfect beach is. It was and is and will be for a very long time, the ultimate beach in my mind.
  • Rosario Beach: We took a 30 min hike to get to the beach which meant we were among the only 2 sets of people there. Great snorkeling!
  • Zoni Beach: We could see St Thomas from here, which just made me want to go there too! It was a great beach to sit and talk about life, which is my kind of beach.
